Mobile Facebook Apps continuously make Facebook an unbeaten queen of social networking
With over 900 million unique monthly visitors, 1.393 billion monthly active users, 1.19 billion mobile monthly users, and $3.85 billion revenue in Q4’14, Facebook is an unbeaten queen of social networking. Everybody knows Facebook more than their friends inside this social networking site. While they also have products and solutions for businesses, Facebook’s life largely relies on advertising – of which has an estimated revenue of $10.93 billion in 2014.
Every click in that “like” button is money for Facebook. And now that it is extending more the capability of its mobile sites and apps, it seems that Twitter’s (estimated to have 300 million unique monthly visitors, 2nd to Facebook) dream of conquering the throne is getting closer and closer to the impossible.
Let’s have a look on what the queen’s armies are up to right now.
Facebook Mobile
Facebook for Mobile is available in three categories – iPhone, Android and Home. The latest iPhone version (v25.0) was further improved in terms of speed and reliability. It is now available for download at iTunes. The latest version of Facebook Home (v1.2) now includes screen swipe-down lock, cover feed, wallpaper photo customization, and app quick launcher. Facebook for Android’s speed and reliability features were also improved.
Facebook Messenger
Latest version (v4.0) of Facebook Messenger now includes free calls over Wi-Fi, enhanced group chats, and message and photo forwarding.
Facebook Ads Manager
On Feb 24, 2015, Facebook released their first mobile version of Ads Manager. Currently, it is only available for iOS phones and tablets. This mobile Facebook app is a powerful advertising tool that helps SMEs manage and create their Facebook ads anytime, anywhere. It allows advertisers to create ads with photos, track audience activity, and keep track of their ads expenditures.
Facebook at Work
Early this year, Facebook announced a pilot program for developing a business app called Facebook at Work. The app is said to promote better collaboration in the workplace. It is more on integrating some of the existing Facebook apps with a much robust business application tool hosted in the cloud. Similar to Chatter, an enterprise social and collaboration tool, the app will only be exclusive to people or groups working in one company. Some of the features office workers are about to enjoy soon on their mobile devices are news feeds, group chats, instant messaging, and event management.
Facebook Meeting
Facebook is currently assembling the components of a system that would better improve scheduling of meetings in large organizations. The concept behind this app is similar to calendaring systems where employees can leverage features like event-add function, smart re-scheduler, and gentle reminders. Facebook’s patented “systems and methods for scheduling a meeting” will serve as the working mechanism behind the app. As this is still a work-in-progress, we can just imagine it to be like the Google Calendar integrated with social networking functions.
It is pretty obvious that the tech giant wants to bring its Facebook for Business solutions to next level. In the recent launching of the Ads Manager, Facebook for Business team highlighted that their goal is to “make mobile ad campaign management even easier for the two million businesses using Facebook advertising.”
Facebook for Business includes Pages, Advertising, Advanced Advertising, Platform and Measurement and Insights. Introduced to businesses in 2011, these tools were designed to attract more likes, comments and shares on their websites, blogs and fan pages.
Another successful product of Facebook is the Facebook Login for Your Apps and Websites. The tool is designed to optimize business web and mobile sites for more customer engagement. It lets customers quickly login to business sites and gives them a shortcut to install mobile apps with fast and secure authentication protocols.
Market analysts estimate Facebook to reach $17 billion in total sales this year.
