What’s with Apple and it is loved by millions? It’s the design team
With Apple Watch coming on stores very soon, I re-visited Apple’s website to have a second look on the product features. Apple Watch designs are really incredible.
About the website, the blend of white background and light-grey font is not that appealing to me. Most HTML5 websites come this clean and Apple simply made it that way. As I am more on organization, I checked the site map. It is comprehensive and what I’ve noticed from here is that Apple is very detailed when it comes to product and service presentation towards consumers.
There is one thing that distinguishes Apple from the rest when it comes to web design. It’s about the design of Apple products. Did you notice that too?
The Apple Watch page is totally awesome and it was cleverly curated to impress the audience. I scrolled down from top to bottom, left to right on some sections, and the watches are truly attractive on their vibrant colors and iconic styles. Even the screen graphics future Apple watch users will often see and touch, they’re beautiful.
Millions of Apple watches will be available sometime around this Mach or early April on more than 400 Apple retail stores worldwide. You can have it from $349 to $549 in three distinctive styles: watch, watch sport and watch edition. Apart from the sleek designs, some of the most notable features are the Passbook, Apple TV navigation support, remote viewfinder for the iSight camera, intuitive visuals on stopwatch, time and alarm functions, and the “Hey Siri” voice search.
Do you know who’s behind the design of these Apple watches, Apple iPhone, MacBook, iPad and several other innovative gadgets inside the Apple campus?
It’s a team of designers - the Apple Industrial Design Group. At present, it is headed by Jonathan Ive, the Senior Vice President of Design. Around September last year, Marc Newson, an industrial designer known for biomorphism designs, joined the Apple Design team. The team is consisting of a mix of design talents one of whom used to design hot Lamborghinis and another one was well-known for designing legendary Nike shoes.
Apple design language, if you will notice, has two aspects. One is the white or black color scheme, usually with a glossy texture and plastic cases, which is used on MacBook and iPods consumer brands. Two is the brushed aluminum and glass look usually incorporated on professional products such as the MacBook Pro and Mac Pro.
Apple is very audacious in acquiring design talents. They’re always searching for someone who deeply understands that smart technology also needs to be beautiful technology. This is the reason why their world-class design team have some of the smartest and most dedicated people on the planet.
Only a couple of days ago, Apple watch won the prestigious iF Design Gold Award. Winning a gold award is rarely achieved by participants in this annual industrial competition. What could have inspired Apple watch to win the gold award was their founder, Steve Jobs – an innovator of computer design.
Apple is, in fact, the world’s number one most valuable brands. Apple as a brand is valued at $124.2 billion.
If you want to see more of Apple’s creatively designed products, visit the Apple Store – one click from Apple’s home page. If you want to become one of the designers of Apple’s future products, go to Jobs at Apple page. They’re hiring designers on various fields and categories.
Apple really is a brand to love.
